Cannabis, the People's Plant
Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural active compound found in the Cannabis plant and said to have plenty of benefits for humans. Unlike THC, or marijuana, CBD does not have the same psychotropic effects and is legal in Louisiana. Pippi’s Purpose is the area’s first CBD dispensary, dedicated to educating you on the benefits of CBD with first-hand knowledge and experience. We carry a variety of clean, safe products and can show you options suited for your needs. CBD- rich hemp gives consumers an amazing, all-natural option. It offers an excellent choice for those seeking a product that comes directly from nature. With people seeking all-natural alternatives to their everyday products, CBD provides a broad rand of using options
The Entourage Effect
‘Team work makes the dream work’
That phrase can be heard throughout the world of sports and various other avenues in life. The same can be said for Phyto cannabinoids.
The Entourage Effect is a theoretical concept which suggests that cannabinoids offer magnified therapeutic benefits when taken in combination with other cannabinoids versus when taken in isolated forms. In addition to cannabinoids working better with one another, the terpenes found in cannabis have also been found to be more effective when combined with others. For example, delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and CBD have shown to have a beneficial synergistic relationship with one another. The two cannabinoids do not interact with the exact same receptors; however, what one does not typically accomplish, the other tends to pick up the slack so to speak. Think of it as having two rooms in a house. Both doors to the rooms have locks that require two different keys, but they both lead to the inside of the room. CBD can influence how THC interacts with the CB1 receptors in our bodies, thus influencing the physiological effects that THC has. Some studies have indicated that CBD can lessen the effects of THC’s psychotropic properties or weaken the euphoric high. Cannabis contains numerous cannabinoids which all contribute to the potential healing properties of the plant. Cannabidiol peeled back the initial layer to open the minds of many, Pippi’s Purpose is now here to shine its light on everything else that the hemp plant has to offer.
Hemp vs. Marijuana
Well… Not exactly. While hemp and marijuana are descendants of the same plant species, hemp is non-psychoactive. Marijuana, on the other hand, is extremely psychoactive due to its abundance of the compound tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). According to the 2018 Farm Bill, Hemp is defined as a cannabis plant that has not greater than 0.3% THC per the dry weight of the plant. The oil that is extracted from hemp contains a vast amount of other cannabinoid constituents such as CBD, CBDa, CBDv, CBG, CBN, and a continuing list.
Endocannabinoid System
The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a physiological network of receptors found within all animals that contain a central nervous system. This system plays a pivotal role in establishing an overall body homeostasis*. The ECS is responsible for a number of different regulatory processes in the human body, large in part due to the cannabinoid receptors being located all throughout our anatomy.
Cannabinoid Receptors?
Yes, cannabinoid receptors. The ECS is composed of two types of cannabinoid receptors: CB1 and CB2 receptors. CB1 receptors have been known to be found in abundance in our Central Nervous System (CNS), brain and spinal cord, where CB2 receptors are located more vastly throughout our immune tissues.
Muscle and skeletal health, mood, pain sensation, circulatory system and sleep patterns are just a short list of biological processes potentially facilitated by the ECS (this statement does not guarantee effectiveness as it these claims are not evaluated by the FDA). Our bodies interact with Phyto cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant but also produce endogenous cannabinoids such as 2AG and anandamide. The endocannabinoid anandamide, also known as the “bliss molecule,” is the culprit of the well-known “runner’s high.”
*Homeostasis, in short, means that your body’s physiological and chemical states are in balance.”
Will CBD Work for Me?
Question: ”Will this help with my…..?” “Is this good for…..?” Answer: It has the potential to.
Contrary to public opinion, CBD products are not miracle workers. The potential applications of CBD are vast, and the experiences of those who have used CBD tend to be positive. Many have a flawed view of how CBD works, often being referred by friends or family who have reaped benefits from the Phyto cannabinoid. CBD works differently for everyone. Every human being has his or her own unique body chemistry. As with any other chemical substance on the planet, cannabidiol interacts with and has different effects on each person’s individual physiology.
There are also no specific products that guarantee any relief, cure, or healing of any ailment.
**Again, CBD is NOT a miracle cure-all.**
Full Spectrum vs. Broad Spectrum
Full spectrum CBD products contain other cannabinoids including CBN, CBG, and THC. While typically present in small amounts, the use of full spectrum products can still offer the benefits of the entourage effect. Each cannabinoid has its own profile and is known for different effects or potential benefits. CBN, or cannabinol, for example, has many of the same properties as CBD, but has also shown to be an excellent anti-insomnia agent. CBN is generally found in small amounts in dried cannabis flower, unlike THC and CBD which can be found in very plentiful amounts depending on the strain. CBG, or cannabigerol, is another non-intoxicating cannabinoid that plays a rather significant role in the effects of cannabis. CBG is the chemical parent molecule of THC and CBD. The acid form of CBG, CBGA, synthesizes the acid forms of THC, CBD, and various other cannabinoids. In the presence of heat, the acid forms of the cannabinoids convert to THC and CBD.
Excellent product. Instant and long lasting. My neck is fused in 7 levels- so the relief is very evident. Thank you!
Exceptional service, and the owner Casey is very knowledgeable about the products sold there. It is an impressive place. Would recommend to anyone in the area. Vermilion Parish is lucky to have them!
